Stable Visit & Racing - Saturday 25th June 2011

On Saturday 25th June, 25 young racing enthusiasts attended the third annual Next Generation Club event hosted by Jeremy Noseda at his Newmarket base at Shafleet Stables.

You can watch video footage from this event by clicking here.

The visit began with a brief introduction from Jeremy, during which he explained the morning routine in prospect and invited attendees to take a look at the horses in the trotting ring. The group then followed Jeremy onto the gallops where they watched second lot, which included last year’s Wokingham winner Laddies Poker Two and Albany Stakes third Illaunglass.

Back at the yard, the group enjoyed bacon sandwiches and a glass of buck’s fizz for breakfast during which they had the opportunity to ask Jeremy about his training operation, future targets for specific horses and his experience in the industry.

After breakfast the group heading out to the limekilns for third lot where they were lucky enough to watch several of the string do a faster piece of work.  The group of workers included Coventry Stakes runner-up Roman Soldier in addition to a few nice-looking two-year-old prospects, who promptly entered a couple of notebooks for the future.

The end of their four-hour visit saw Jeremy challenge the group to pick out a stayer and a sprinter from one another back at the yard before a quick glance at Group 1 star Sans Frontieres in the equine spa.

Jeremy Noseda said: "It was really good to see how enthusiastic and knowledgeable the group were. They clearly knew their stuff and we very much enjoyed having them round to see how we go about morning stables. It was a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing many of them again in the future."

Jeremy kindly provided the group with badges to attend the meeting at the Newmarket July course later that afternoon where committee member and bloodstock agent Matt Coleman hosted a run through the card and luckily picked a few winners to make the day even more enjoyable.

The visit was attended by a good cross section of Next Generation Club members aged between 18-35 with some visitors coming from as far as Manchester to enjoy the day out.

Next Generation Committee member and At The Races presenter Gina Bryce said, “We have managed to attract a real core group of supporters to the NGC events, many of whom are keen to get involved in racing in some capacity and see the events as a way to network and learn more about the different facets of the industry.  To be able to get a behind the scenes look at one of the country’s leading training yards and chat to the trainer himself is something many people already working in the industry never get to do so we are really grateful for all the support we have received from Industry leaders such as Jeremy who have made such exclusive events possible”.
