TBA Annual Seminar - ‘Equine Infectious Diseases - Safeguarding the industry through lessons learned’

This year’s TBA Seminar offers breeders the chance to hear the latest information on existing and re-emerging infectious diseases that pose a threat not only to the Thoroughbred breeding industry but to the whole UK equine sector. Speakers include international experts with first-hand experience of the less familiar but re-emerging diseases including Dourine (Dr Ilaria Pascucci, Italy) and Glanders (Dr Ulrich Wernery, Dubai). Closer to home, Dr Ann Cullinane of the Irish Equine Centre will report on Equine Infectious Anaemia and other viral diseases, Professor Sidney Ricketts will focus on the ever-present threat posed to the breeding industry by CEM, Dr Richard Newton will update on African Horse Sickness and EVA, and the importance of continuing disease surveillance and monitoring and Rob Pilsworth MRCVS will offer some pointers on how best to protect horses from vector-spread disease. With the emphasis very much on prevention, the aim of the day is educate and inform breeders on what must be done to ensure that the UK remains free of these diseases.

The Seminar takes place directly after the TBA Annual General Meeting at Tattersalls on Thursday June 28th, with registration and coffee at 10.30 a.m. Download an application form here, or contact Caroline Turnbull at Stanstead House on 01638 661321 or email caroline@thetba.co.uk for more information.
